Hotel Utkiek & Pier 19 in Greifswald

The hotel is very conveniently located directly on the sea, which is a great overnight experience in itself, as you are practically alone at the front. The restaurant (alternative rating) has unfortunately severely degraded in quality and exclusivity.

You can't get closer to the water, to the ships and, with a little luck, part of a wonderful sunrise. The maisonette rooms are very spacious, clean and have a great view. The breakfast was plentiful and easy to enjoy by far. Parking spaces are available free of charge at the hotel, even if it is a bit strange to meander through the tourist masses on the quay until you get there.

I was with my companion from October 2nd, 2020 to October 4th, 2020 in the hotel. We were there for the second time and I was happy to advertise the hotel as an “insider tip” among friends. However, this vacation was a disaster that still annoys me today. The reception was initially friendly as usual and the room was great. The trouble started Saturday morning at breakfast. It was 9:30 am and there was no table available. Unfortunately the buffet closed at 10:00, so there was hardly any time to wait for a free table. We were advised to make a reservation for the next morning, we did that and a solution was found, so the initial trouble remained. The highlight in the negative sense followed in the evening. I went to dinner with my companion in Greifswald and we were still in a bar. When we arrived at the hotel shortly after 2:00 am, we noticed that we had left our room cards in the room. We thought at first that it would not be a problem, we can safely call someone who will let us in. That was not the case. There was no night manning, an emergency hotline or any other help. In my desperation, I called the police, but unfortunately they couldn't help me either. Long story short, we had to spend the night in front of the hotel at below 10 degrees Celsius, there was no other option. Without a car key we could have made ourselves comfortable on the park bench and would certainly have frozen to death. Around 6 or 7 a.m. the registration came from the hotel and let us in. I'm shocked and disappointed at the same time I've never seen anything like it. Despite the room I booked, I had to stay in my car. Questions arose in me: What happens in the event of a fire if nobody is available? What happens in the event of a break-in or if the locking system technology fails, e.g. in the event of a power failure. These questions went unanswered. The hotel wanted to accommodate us with a credit, but this did not happen. We have been waiting for a message from the hotel until today (05.11.2020). So I have no choice but to strongly advise everyone against visiting this hotel until this problem has been resolved, otherwise it is really an insider tip.

A great place to live with a direct view of the sea or the port entrance. And a very common hotel.

Small, extraordinary hotel, rooms on two levels ... Friendly staff and delicious food ... I can only recommend it

Really nice, small hotel with a great backdrop and harbor with the best fish sandwiches (near Kruse), Eldena monastery nearby, the beautiful city of Greifswald and much more. I regretted only booking one night. Great attention to detail, be it furnishings or decoration. Very clean, modern. Parking spaces directly at the property. Very nice staff, the restaurant is excellent for dinner and breakfast. Serrano in one piece and Tete de Moine doesn't have it everywhere either. Tip: climb the tower as a hotel guest. We will be back.

I can't rate the hotel as we only went to the restaurant to eat. The location of the hotel / restaurant is exceptional! Almost at the end of the marina with a view of the Greifswalder Bodden you have a wonderful and unique view of the water! Sitting on the terrace of the restaurant is particularly good in warm weather! I had fried hake with salad and french fries, my husband had solyanka and fish fingers with mashed potatoes! We liked it and the service was quick and friendly! We recommend!

We wanted to have coffee in the restaurant on the terrace. We were never greeted when entering the restaurant. After we had waited a quarter of an hour to be served, which was given to the neighboring tables, but not to us, we left without having achieved anything. Now one service for the whole restaurant may be a little little. Then at least a "I'll come to you" would have been nice. I haven't seen anything like it for a long time. Underground!

Well, I wanted to leave today, unfortunately only for restaurant visitors or hotel guests. That is very unpleasant, I would have liked more sensitivity from the employees. After the evacuation you don't want to be a guest anymore.

Nice modern hotel overlooking the water. We felt comfortable in the maisonette. Nice personel. Breakfast okay too. Parking space included very practical.

A Corona postponed short trip has finally brought us here. The beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. All around the water. Simply fantastic. The maisonette apartment with balcony-beautiful. The service staff deserve the highest score. We would love to come back.

Staff friendly and the tower room offers a lot of space

It was one of the best rooms I have ever had. Look at the water and switch off from the bed through the large glass front 5m away from the Baltic Sea. I would like to thank you again for the service and the courtesy of the staff. Everything perfect. Excellent!

Great food.

A very nice hotel in a fantastic location with an interesting approach. Got the room # 24 and was not disappointed, more surprised. 1 floor overlooking the ship "Greif". It is all modern and very clean. The bed is in the room one floor higher and by stairs to reach. But you also hear the neighbors when he uses his stairs. Balcony is also very nice. The staff is friendly, but you can expect. The breakfast is unfortunately a bit basic but still completely ok and the view from the restaurant is a dream. Definitely a recommendation.

Very nice... The room was great .. direct view of the bay. The rooms are contemporary, breakfast was great and the view from the restaurant is great. The observation tower is also highly recommended

UPDATE 03/14/19 My 5th stay at Utkiek, again wonderful, my steak was terrific, the breakfast with the view of the Baltic Sea is very decelerating even if you are there for work and is simply good for you. I'm looking forward to my next visit again. Thank you for the friendly welcome and the nice farewell. A very nice hotel, superbly located, right on the harbor and the Baltic Sea. The room was very, very clean and the view was amazing. The breakfast was delicious and sufficient, the staff was very nice and friendly. I think the price-performance ratio is very good. I can only recommend.
